COUNTRY MEETING
Saturday 19th July, 2008

CITY OF LIVERPOOL

This year's country meeting will be held in the 2008 Capital of Culture: Liverpool. details of the programme for the weekend are given here:

Thursday 17 and Friday 18 July - Peal attempts in Liverpool area.  Please contact Martin Cansdale if you would like to be included.

Saturday 19 July

10:00 - 11:30 St Nicholas, Pier Head (12 bells, 41-3-15)
Lunch: The Ship & Mitre, Dale Street
13:30 - 15:00 Liverpool Cathedral (12 bells, 82-0-11)
This will be followed by a "behind the scenes" tour of the Cathedral.  If you are interested in joining this, please let the Secretary know to give an indication of numbers.
17:30 Business Meeting in The Athenaeum Library
Changing facilities available at The Athenaeum from 17:00
18:30 for 19:30 Dinner at The Athenaeum - dress code jacket & tie

Accommodation

The Country Meeting clashes with (amongst other things) the Open Golf championship at Royal Birkdale and the Tall Ships race, so many of the hotels in central Liverpool are already full.  However, we have reserved some student houses close to the Cathedral (and within easy walking distance of the Athenaeum) for the use of Members (see www.mcrstudents.com for details).  Single and double rooms are available at a discounted rate of £22.50 pppn, with a further 10% discount for a stay of 3 nights or more.  Breakfast is not included, but all the houses have kitchen facilities.  To book accommodation please contact:

Car Parking

The Queen`s Square Car park is open 24 hours a day offering secure parking, It is a short walk to The Aethenaeum, The cost is £2.00 per hour if you enter before 6:00 pm.
