Anniversary Dinner was held on Saturday 6th November at the Tower Thistle Hotel next to

Centenary of
the Death of Past Master William Burkin |
|
On 9th October, the
Society was invited to Nutfield, Surrey, to join the village in commemorating the
centenary of the death of William Burkin, Past Master of the College Youths. The Master
delivered a eulogy and laid a wreath, handbells were rung and the Society attempted a peal

The Longest
Peal Ever Rung |
|
On 2nd October, 3
members rang the longest peal ever rung, breaking the 40 year old record by a huge margin:
50,400 changes of minor on handbells. See the details and pictures here. |

A Weekend in
Birmingham |
|
Stephanie Warboys
organised some peals in and around the West Midlands for some Society members. On the
Sunday evening, everyone gathered together for a social in "The Old Joint Stock"
next to St Philip's Cathedral in the centre of Birmingham. Read the report by Eleanor

Country
Meeting in York |
|
The 2004 Country
Meeting was held on Saturday 17th July at York. A report appears here

National
12-Bell Striking Contest |
|
The Society hosted
the National 12 Bell Striking Competition on Saturday 26th June. Whilst there was
disappointment that Society only managed to come 2nd, all agreed that it was an excellent

50th
Anniversary of Cripplegate's bells |
|
50 years ago, bells
were restored to the tower of St Giles Cripplegate to replace those lost in the War. To
mark this special occasion, a service of celebration Evensong was held in the church,
conducted by the Rector, Rev'd Katherine Rumens. A choir was put together of ringers from
the Society and friends and the organ was played by Mark Jones. After the service, a
dinner was held at the Red Herring to conclude the day of celebration. The event was
carefully organised between Gwen Rogers and the church. A gallery of photos may be found here. |

Dinner |

The Informal Dinner
was held at Davy's Wine Bar, Creed Lane on Friday 19th March. A gallery of photographs

Dinner for
Immediate Past Master, Dickon Love |
|
On 9th January, the
Secretary organised a dinner at the Gay Hussar, Greek St, in honour of Dickon Love's year
as Master of the Society. All the officers were present (with the exception of Stan Mason,
Trustee) as were all those who served as officers during Dickon's years as Junior and
Senior Steward. As ever, the occasion was extremely convivial and enjoyed by all. A
